A new Patrick Industries facility, planned to open in La Porte, Indiana in 2025, will come at a cost of “several million dollars” and employ as many as 31.

Patrick made the announcement with officials from the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership and La Porte city officials, including Mayor Tom Dermody, at a city council meeting this week.

The 60,000-square-foot building is a spec industrial building in the Thomas Rose Industrial Park. Patrick officials said the new facility will be well-positioned geographically while allowing access to La Porte’s skilled workforce.

“We are excited to be working with the city of LaPorte on this project,” Patrick Industries Senior Vice President Hugo Gonzalez said. “Our goal is to build a long-lasting partnership with the community.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Patrick as much as $360,000 in conditional tax credits, based on the company’s plans to create up to 31 new jobs by the end of 2024. The tax credits are performance-based, officials said, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once state-based workers are hired.

In addition, the city of La Porte offered the company tax abatement on the personal property investments made by the company.

“La Porte is a community on the rise,” Dermody said. “We are thrilled to partner with an industry leader such as Patrick Industries and this project will provide high-quality employment opportunities for our residents.”

Patrick Industries employs 9,500 people at more than 170 manufacturing and distribution facilities worldwide.

“Indiana has earned national recognition for its strength in manufacturing as the highest concentration of manufacturing jobs in the country,” interim Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Staton said. “It is rewarding to support companies like Patrick Industries that continue to thrive here, and I am confident our business climate and high-quality talent pipeline will support their continued success for years to come.”
