PRVCA Hosts Electricity Seminar

The Pennsylvania RV and Camping Association (PRVCA) is hosting RV electricity expert Mike Sokol from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 for an electricity seminar.

The seminar is free for PRVCA members and $100 for non-members, with registration required as lunch is included. The seminar will be at Keller Marine & RV, 2712 Main St., Port Treverton, Pennsylvania.

This seminar will cover voltage, amperage, resistance and wattage basics. The class is designed for beginners or experienced RV technicians, with a wide range of skills taught throughout. Topics planned include:

  • Reviewing the basics of using a digital meter
  • Learning the theory of split-phase 120/240-volt power in campgrounds
  • Reviewing surge protector types and operation
  • Learning troubleshooting methods for hot skin and contact voltage
  • How to upgrade melted shore power plus
  • How to properly terminate screw torquing procedure
  • Portable generator hookup/neutral ground bonding
  • Transfer switch diagnostics
  • Lithium battery upgrades and chargers
  • SoftStart air conditioner install
