Outside Van, an adventure van manufacturer based in Oregon, built and released an off-road wheel engineered specifically for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis vehicles.

The company’s Apex wheel has off-road and safety features to fill a need in the adventure van market, the company said.

Tim Wimmer, Outside Van engineering director, said, “We have taken the best features used in the off-road and street performance markets to bring the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter community a robust and safe wheel.”

The Apex is a 17×8 A356t+ alloy wheel. It was built with a flow-forged process to increase durability and decrease weight.

The wheel features a 6-130 lug bolt pattern that aligns perfectly with the Sprinters native hub and does not require modification for fitment. Apex comes in two offsets, 38mm and 29mm, allowing for use on stock Sprinter chassis, as well as vans that have modified suspensions such as the Agile Off-Road RIP Kit.

The wheel’s 3,200-pound load capacity per wheel exceeds the Sprinter chassis requirements

“The purpose of Apex is to bring features that are common in the off-road community to the adventure van market,” Wimmer said. “It fills a void of performance-driven off-road products that have not been available in the van life community.”

The Apex wheel is finished in a black semi-gloss paint. The center hub cap features a grey Outside Van emblem. The emblem is removeable for further customization and is replaceable with the stock Mercedes-Benz Sprinter wheel caps.

The Apex wheel has a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, and a lifetime structural warranty.

The wheel is available to the public this month and is featured on Outside Van’s Approach and the upcoming Syncline Type B RVs. Outside Van RVs are sold through the company’s nationwide dealer network, including seven Campers Inn locations and three Johnson RV stores.
