RVIA Government Affairs Team Works on 300 Bills

RVIA’s Government Affairs team has reviewed 2,300 pieces of legislation this year, RVIA said. The organization is actively lobbying for over 300 of those bills.

According to RVIA, some of the biggest legislative trends this year include electronic vehicle infrastructure and e-RVs, direct sales legislation and electronics right to repair legislation.

In September of 2022, the Biden-Harris administration approved the first of 35 state plans to build out EV charging infrastructure. The program will be funded by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the funds will help states build EV chargers across about 53,000 miles of highways across the U.S.

Right to repair laws require manufacturers to provide consumers and independent repair companies access to parts, tools and information to repair products.
