RVIA Tags Brumfield for State Legislative Associate Role

The RVIA announced this week that Alice Brumfield will serve as its new State Legislative Associate.

The RVIA announced this week that Alice Brumfield will serve as its new State Legislative Associate.

“The RVIA’s Government Affairs staff are industry experts for our members, state legislators, regulators and RV industry stakeholders,” the association said. “Their federal and state affairs teams champion the RV industry on Capitol Hill and closely follow relevant legislation and policies.”

RVIA said Brumfield started her government affairs career interning in the Indiana Senate before eventually moving to DC to work at a full-service state government affairs firm.

“While there, I completed what was essentially a legislative boot camp, learning the process of every state legislature in the country,” Brumfield said. “I learned the nuances, differences and deadlines for each legislature, as well as what moves bills from one chamber to another. I also gained client-facing skills that I believe will be an asset to our government affairs team as we continue advocating to state lawmakers and regulators on behalf of our members.”

From there, Brumfield joined the state affairs team at Honda.

She said it is there she learned how clients would utilize the information she was finding and sending out.

“Knowing how that data was applied allowed me to see the broader picture in how government affairs can impact a business, large and small,” Brumfield said. “I developed a sense of how members participate in associations and what information they need to know as they navigate an ever-more-complicated state legislative and regulatory landscape.”

Brumfield said when she saw the RVIA job posting, it was like a lightbulb went off in her brain.

“The intersection of mobility and outdoors is fascinating because it’s very niche,” Brumfield said. “And when you are a niche player in policy, that can present its own set of challenges. It really felt like the job was custom-made for me, so I absolutely had to take a chance and apply.”

Brumfield joined the RVIA staff in December of 2025.

“I review legislation as it comes out to see whether it would impact the RV industry, via definitions or prohibitions,” Brumfield said. “Once I determine the relevance of the bill, I then analyze the legislation to assess the impact that it will have, and my team and I articulate it to both association staff and to our members.”

The RVIA said Brumfield is also responsible for following these bills throughout their life cycle, tracking them from their introduction until they are either signed by the governor or lapse at the end of the legislative session.

“I’ve been diving deep into the history of RVs, how they’re manufactured and regulated,” Brumfield said, “and also speaking extensively with well-informed RVIA staff who are fountains of knowledge about all things RV.”

While she is new to the industry, Brumfield said she immediately sees the value and appeal of RVing.

“RVing provides an affordable way for people, including those who may not have access otherwise, to explore the country. That’s very valuable,” Brumfield said. “Over the course of my career here, I want to help create a favorable political landscape that would get folks into RVs so that they can experience the country and its natural wonders for themselves.”
