Thor Industries is pledging to keep shared outdoor spaces “pristine” through a new initiative that encourages trash removal from the outdoors.

In conjunction with Earth Day, the manufacturer stated a 2021 goal to clean up 150 tons of garbage from shared spaces outside. The move is a pledge to Pick Up America, an online initiative encouraging communities to take care of the outdoors.

“Over the past year, it has been inspiring to see the increased excitement around getting outdoors and connecting with nature,” Thor President and CEO Bob Martin said. “We also understand that this rise in usage can put pressure on our public lands.”

Initially launched in 2019, Pick Up America “parallels Thor Industries’ focus” on reaching long-term sustainability targets. As of today, the initiative stated its original goal of removing 50 tons of trash has been exceeded by more than 490%.

“Through the Pick Up America initiative, it is our intent to provide an easy way for campers, RVers and outdoor lovers alike to do our part in keeping these lands clean for all to enjoy now and into the future,” Martin said.
