Thor Industries and fundraising platform Omaze have helped provide $840,000 in grants from CAF America to Denver-based First Descents, providing “the healing power of adventure” to adults dealing with serious health concerns.

The “leadership-level” gift was made possible by Thor, the nonprofit stated. Throughout the past year, the manufacturer and Omaze teamed up with First Descents to offer opportunities to win two Airstreams, along with other prizes.

“We are honored to support the work of First Descents,” Thor Industries President and CEO Bob Martin said. “Together, over the past few years, we have built program locations from scratch by utilizing state of the art RVs and helped extend the healing power of adventure to more young adults coping with cancer. With Omaze’s innovative platform, we are thrilled that Airstream units can help advance First Descents’ important mission.”

In September last year, Omaze provided an Airstream Caravel, Ram 1500 truck and $20,000 cash prize to a winner. The platform followed up by awarding another winner an Airstream Atlas and $20,000 cash. Combined, the two “experiences” provided more than $840,000 in grants from CAF America to First Descents.

The gift will underwrite 482 experiences for young adults impacted by cancer or serious illness, First Descents stated, including frontline healthcare workers.

“At Omaze, we are proud to collaborate with legendary brands like Airstream and Thor Industries to advance the work of our nonprofit grantees,” Omaze Director of Business Development Gregg Clifton said. “Our team has been inspired and personally affected by the mission of First Descents, and we are excited to have the opportunity to empower their work on a transformative level.”

First Descents, Omaze and Thor stated a plan to provide more RV experiences, helping spread awareness and expand outdoor activity programming.

“Thor Industries believes that adventure and travel-based experiences can transform lives,” First Descents CEO Ryan O’Donoghue said. “Their collaboration with Omaze inspires the spirit of adventure and connects people with nature while raising leadership funds to support our mission. Their giving will have a substantial impact on the communities we serve and continue to make our life-changing programs a reality.”
