
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued the following recalls:
DAIMLER VANS USA, LLC
Improperly Reinforced Frame Members
Frame members with inadequate strength may reduce the vehicle’s performance in a crash, increasing the injury risk.
Potential Number of Units Affected: 4
Daimler Vans is recalling certain 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and Sprinter 3500 vehicles. The longitudinal frame members may not be reinforced properly.
Dealers will inspect and repair the frame, as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed Nov. 7. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available, which is anticipated in November. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 877-762-8267. Incorrect Tires and Steering Coupler Cover Installed
Incorrect tires and an incorrect steering coupler can cause a loss of brake function, loss of steering control or damage to tires, increasing the crash risk.
Potential Number of Units Affected: 212
Ford is recalling certain 2023-2024 Transit vehicles repaired incorrectly under recall numbers 24V226 and 24V591. An incorrect steering coupler cover and tires that were not designed for the vehicle may have been installed during a previous repair.
Dealers will inspect and if necessary, replace the tires, tire placard and certification label, and also recalibrate the vehicle. Additionally, dealers will remove the steering coupler cover. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed Oct. 13. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, which is anticipated in March 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Loss of Steering Control from Steering Column Detachment
A loss of steering control increases the crash risk.
Potential Number of Units Affected: 115,539
Ford is recalling certain 2020-2021 F-250, F-350 and F-450 vehicles. The steering column upper shaft may detach from the steering column and result in a loss of steering control.
Dealers will inspect the steering column and repair or replace the upper shaft, as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed Oct. 6. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, which is anticipated in December. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 25S94.
