
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued its first weekly recall list after the federal government shutdown took effect Oct. 1. The Department of Transportation said NHTSA has access to prior-year appropriations and supplemental appropriations to keep all 574 employees working during the shutdown.
The result means NHTSA is expected to continue releasing weekly recalls through the federal government shutdown.
Additionally, all NHTSA activities funded through the Highway Trust Fund would continue during the shutdown. Fund expenditures include federal surface transportation programs.

LP Tank May Detach and Become a Road Hazard
A detached tank can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the crash risk.
Potential Number of Units Affected: 23
Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2024-2025 Luminate and Indigo RVs. The LP tank support tube may be too short and have an insufficient weld that may fracture, enabling the tank to detach.
The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 24. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 877-855-2867. TMC’s number for this recall is RC000331.
