Winnebago Towables assisted Warrior Expeditions in engaging veterans in the outdoors by donating a Micro Minnie 1700BH to the veterans’ support group, the company announced today, May 21.

“Warrior Expeditions is incredibly grateful for Winnebago’s ongoing support and generous donation of a Micro Minnie Travel Trailer,” said Sean Gobin, Warrior Expeditions’ Executive Director. “This trailer will allow our staff to safely travel around the country supporting our expeditions in remote areas, while also allowing us to carry the gear and supplies needed to outfit our veterans.”

Warrior Expeditions is a non-profit organization providing intensive, long-distance outdoor therapy programs to honorably discharged combat veterans. The organization’s goal is to help veterans’ transition from wartime trauma through transformative outdoor experiences.

On each Warrior Expedition, veterans are provided equipment, clothing and supplies needed for the trip. The program runs by the support of sponsors and donations.

Winnebago Towables provided Warrior Expeditions with a Micro Minnie 1700BH, a 7-foot-wide unit that stretches to just over 20 feet long and features two bunk beds in the rear with additional sleeping in the front. The unit will accompany veterans on their hiking expeditions and will allow for more gear storage, security and a comfortable home-base.

“Now, more than ever, we appreciate the restorative power of the outdoors,” said Scott Degnan, Winnebago Towables Vice President. “Winnebago Towables is committed to enabling transformative outdoor experiences, and we could not be more excited about helping support Warrior Expeditions and the wonderful work they are doing for our combat veterans.”

Since 2013, Warrior Expeditions veterans have reported significant improvements in their physical, mental and social well-being during and after their journeys which include:

  • Decompressing from their military service and coming to terms with their wartime experiences.
  • Experiencing camaraderie with other veterans who understand the challenges of transitioning from military service to civilian life.
  • Interacting with community supporters along the way that facilitates their reintegration into society, restores their faith in humanity, and builds a network of life-long friendships.

Warrior Expeditions is a 501(c)3 nonprofit outdoor therapy program that helps combat veterans transition from their wartime experiences through long distance outdoor expeditions.
