Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) hosted a training event with a dozen key Tiffin Motorhomes leaders, including President Leigh Tiffin.

The two-day event took place at FCCC’s Gaffney, South Carolina, headquarters. Tiffin leaders were given a tour of the Gaffney factory along with extensive, informative presentations from FCCC experts covering chassis engineering and service operations.

In March, Tiffin announced a partnership with FCCC in which FCCC will build Tiffin’s Type A diesel PowerGlide Chassis.

Tiffin leaders provided FCCC employees with a comprehensive overview of the company’s product and service strategies, its extensive legacy in the industry and the manufacturer’s excitement in the new partnership.

“This training was incredibly helpful and enlightening for our team,” Leigh Tiffin said. “Not only did it provide us an incredible overview into FCCC and its team, it only strengthened our confidence that they are the right partner to take the next generation of PowerGlide to the next level.”

FCCC will begin building the PowerGlide chassis in 2024.

FCCC President and CEO Jeff Sather said: “We were thrilled to welcome the Tiffin team to Gaffney and provide them a first-hand look at what sets us apart – and why we are so excited about our coming partnership. This partnership truly brings the best of FCCC and Tiffin together, enabling both companies to focus on what they do best while benefiting from their shared cultures of pride of workmanship, attention to detail and doing things right the first time. This was an important next step in our partnership.”

FCCC will develop a custom-built chassis that seamlessly integrates into the Tiffin coach. FCCC’s nationwide service network will help enhance and expand the legendary customer service and support Tiffin PowerGlide customers expect, the companies said.

The partnership brings numerous FCCC features and benefits to Tiffin’s motorhomes, including:

  • RoadWatch, FCCC’s integrated technology and safety suite featuring stability and traction control, collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control
  • DriveTech, an RV driving system maximizing safety by putting every command in one easy-to-reach location
  • An ergonomic steering wheel and column-mounted controls, paired with OptiView’s all-digital gauge display create a more automotive-like experience
  • Enhanced ride and handling with premium chassis components exclusive to Tiffin
