Colonial Airstream and RV owner Nick Lenzo said winning awards never gets old.
The Millstone Township, New Jersey, dealership was named Airstream’s top motorhome retailer during the brand’s dealer meetings last month in Lexington, Kentucky. Colonial also took home East Region top retailer honors in the travel trailer and motorhome categories.
Lenzo said, “Dating back to 2002, when we took on Airstream, we have been successful. We actually got an award that first year as the rookie dealership of the year. We really do have a great relationship with the brand.”
According to Colonial RV Marketing Manager Alex Rivera, the dealership is a six-time winner of Airstream’s Five Rivet Award and boasts three of the brand’s top five salespeople. The dealership was the top New Jersey seller of motorhomes and Type B motorhomes, according to Statistical Surveys Inc.
Airstream is not Colonial Airstream and RV’s only brand. The store is celebrating 20 years as a Winnebago dealer in 2025. Colonial RV is a six-time winner of the Flying W Award Top Dealer award from Winnebago.
Lenzo said, “When Airstream decided to dissolve the Class A segment of its business, we took on Winnebago to fill the void. We sell Class A, B and C motorhomes, but only motorhomes, from Winnebago. We are a full-line Airstream dealership in that we sell travel trailers and touring coaches.”
Colonial Airstream and RV operates almost as two separate dealerships, with two brand-specific sales teams. Both brands have a large online presence. Colonial Airstream and RV has more than a million combined followers on Facebook and more than half a million combined subscribers on YouTube, where it is a Silver Creator award winner.
“People come from all over and even outside the state of New Jersey to do business with us,” Lenzo said. “The presence we have digitally is a big part of that, and that’s what Alex is in charge of here as our marketing manager. I think that is a big piece of our success is being able to connect with people and allow them to see who we are and get to know us before they physically get to the dealership.”
Lenzo said dealership employees treat customers the way they would want to be treated, leading to repeat and referral business comprising over 60% of sales.
“One award we are really proud of is the Five Rivet award,” Lenzo said. “It is comprised of many measurables and metrics, but mainly, it is measuring customer service and customer satisfaction. We have a Five Rivet score of 4.96. We have been a Five Rivet dealer since the program’s inception, which we are extremely proud to say.”
Colonial RV was started by Lenzo’s father and uncle in Lakewood, New Jersey, before relocating to a 50,000-square-foot facility in Millstone Township. Lenzo said the new location works well for Airstream and Winnebago customers.
“We built it for that reason,” he said. “Airstream and Winnebago customers have such a high level of expectation when buying a vehicle. We try to deliver on that expectation and meet that demand.”
