Go RVing Focuses on Community Trends

A Go RVing graphic about the importance of community.

Go RVing’s latest monthly trends report examined community trends.

According to a Gallup poll, More Americans today than two decades ago rate their community activities, hobbies or recreational activities as “extremely” or “very important” to them.

Go RVing said outdoor recreation, and particularly RVing, has been a way for many to satisfy the enduring human community need.

The Go RVing 2025 Owner Demographic Profile found many RV owners enjoy social activities. According to the profile, 37% enjoy visiting local attractions and/or participating in food tours while RVing, 26% enjoy outdoor sports, 19% attend music festivals and 12% tailgate. The activities provide socialization opportunities while building an RV community.

RVers also seek out community by joining an RV club. RV clubs are available for all RV enthusiasts, many of whom host frequent camping events or rallies.

RV parks and campgrounds present natural community-building opportunities. Many campground activities include hiking, bike riding, swimming, cornhole and board games. Some RVers participate in volunteer events such as park cleanup initiatives or building projects.

Go RVing said the industry can continue to elevate consumers’ community experiences in several ways.

Organizing events and activities brings people together. Examples include social gatherings such as potluck dinners or outdoor movie nights; outdoor activities like group hikes, fitness classes and team-building exercises; creative endeavors that include arts and crafts or book clubs; and seasonal celebrations themed around holidays.

RVers use mobile apps to connect with others nearby, share local recommendations or find fellow travelers with similar interests. Go RVing said hosting or supporting RV shows and rallies enables the industry to be actively involved in major events, provides a space for RVers to connect, learn about new products and participate in social activities.

Go RVing said industry members can provide educational resources on RV maintenance, safety and travel planning. Industry members can also share real RVers’ authentic experiences to highlight the friendships and connections in the RV lifestyle.
