Thor Industries, Inc. is introducing its range-extended electric Type A motorhome, the Embark, manufactured by Entegra Coach.
The company said Embark’s commercialization marks an important milestone in Thor’s five-year journey to electrification.
Thor Industries President and CEO Bob Martin said, “Electrification will play a central role in the future of mobility, including RVing. This first-of-its-kind electric Class A motorhome reinforces THOR’s innovation leadership and offers unparalleled product differentiation for the Entegra Coach brand.”
Thor said the European design inspired Embark alleviates range anxiety. The vehicle, built on an electric vehicle (EV) platform developed exclusively by Harbinger Motors, integrates a low-emission gasoline range extender. Thor said the motorhome also delivers 105 miles of range on electric battery. The range extender recharges the electric battery system, delivering up to 450 miles of additional range.
The range-extended electric chassis is powered by a center-mounted 140,000-watt-hour battery pack. The company said the EV drivetrain delivers instant torque, reduced sway and a quieter ride. Embark offers safety features including a backup camera with dynamic trajectory, front and rear ultrasonic collision warnings and real-time tire pressure monitoring.
The company said Embark’s 800-volt electrical architecture enables rapid charging at DC fast charger locations. The batteries can be charged at campsites, at home or utilizing the range extender.
Full Embark production will begin in 2026.
Jayco Family of Companies Ken Walters said, “With the reputation of Entegra Coach, we are certain that it is the best brand to bring this project to life. The Embark will go through extensive consumer testing through the rental market prior to production next summer. We want to be sure that it offers everything a customer expects from an Entegra Coach motorhome.”
The Embark electric motorhome was on display this week at Elkhart Extravaganza.
