Blue Water Development, a hospitality management firm specializing in East Coast attractions, and Sun Outdoors, an outdoor hospitality company with offerings ranging from RV sites to vacation rentals, purchased Lazy Lakes RV Resort in Key West, Florida.

The property is under development, with plans for new RV sites and vacation rentals for a luxury camping experience. Other amenities include a 7-acre lake with a boardwalk, a pool, campstore, dog park, local food trucks, community fire experience, on-site propane refill station and more.

The property is Blue Water’s first campground in Florida and second overall property, joining the Comfort Inn & Suites Daytona Beach Oceanfront. Todd Burbage, Blue Water CEO, said the Key West market has a high barrier-to-entry.

“So when this unique property became available, there was no question that we had to buy it,” Burbage said. “Transforming the existing Lazy Lakes RV Resort into the absolutely amazing Sun Outdoors Sugarloaf Key — one of the first to showcase the new Sun Outdoors brand — offered us the perfect opportunity to showcase the Blue Water Way for transforming a property into what will become a premier campground. Sun has been, and continues to be, a great partner, and we’re looking forward to this ‘Sunshine State’ project.”

Sun Outdoors was previously Sun RV Resorts, pivoting its public image toward a wide range of experiences and accommodations.

The Sun Outdoors Sugarloaf Key resort eventually will include 95 campsites with a mixture of both premium RV sites and park model cottages.
