Brown & Brown Executive Will Lead International Operations

Brown & Brown, Inc. Chief Operating Officer (COO) Steve Hearn will lead all operations outside of North America across both the retail and specialty distribution segments, effective immediately.

Hearn has been part of the insurance industry since 1989. He joined the Brown & Brown Board of Directors in August 2024 and was named COO in February.

Brown & Brown President and CEO Powell Brown said Hearn has extensive experience and relationships in the global market.

“Tapping him to lead operations beyond our North American footprint will enable our ability to leverage robust global capabilities, drive continued growth, further invest in the global marketplace and strengthen our position as an industry leader worldwide,” Brown said. “We look forward to Steve’s continued leadership and the value he will provide for our current and future teammates, customers, carrier partners and shareholders around the world.”

Before joining Brown & Brown, Hearn served as Placing Platform Limited chair and held various roles with the Ardonagh Group. He held leadership roles in various company segments, including Ardonagh Specialty Holdings Limited CEO, Ardonagh Capital Solutions Holdings CEO, Inver Re CEO and Ardonagh International director.

He was the CEO of Corant Global, a BGC Partners subsidiary. He worked at Willis Group Holdings and held roles including Willis Group Holdings president and deputy chief CEO, Willis Re CEO, Willis Global chairman and CEO and Willis Limited CEO. He also held senior leadership positions at Hilb, Rogal & Hobbs; Glencairn Limited; Marsh Affinity Europe & Middle East; Marsh Affinity UK and Sedgwick Affinity Group Services.
