Wholesale RV shipments to Canada in the first quarter of 2025 totaled over 23% more than in the first quarter of 2024.

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) said the likely reason behind the increase was Canadian dealers accelerating orders to avoid potential cost increases and supply-chain disruptions related to Canadian tariffs.

“These tariffs, proposed by the Canadian government in early 2025, created significant uncertainty throughout February, March and April,” CRVA said. “At the same time, the RV industry continues to benefit from a renewed and growing interest in domestic travel, with more Canadians turning to RVing as a flexible, family-friendly and immersive way to explore the country. This shift in travel behavior underscores the importance of maintaining a stable, accessible supply of RVs within Canada.”

Wholesale RV shipments totaled 9,987 in the first quarter. Retail sales, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., totaled 3,982 RVs, leading to a “notable increase” in dealer inventory levels.

Motorized shipments totaled 1,089 in the first quarter, up 11.1% from the first quarter of 2024. Although Type A and Type B shipments were down from a year ago, Type C shipments soared 23.8% from the first quarter of 2024 to 858.

Among towables, travel trailer shipments increased 26.4% in the first quarter of 2025 to 7,270. Fifth wheel shipments rose 30.6% from the first quarter of 2024, and fold-down trailers rose 1.8%. Truck camper shipments were down 14.3% from the first quarter of 2024.

CRVA said the association will closely monitor shipment and retail activity trends, as well as developments related to trade policy, and remain engaged with government stakeholders.
