Curt Tambornino founded Curt Manufacturing in 1993 out of the back of a car. Though today the company makes over 1,000 custom-fit hitch models, the aftermarket supplier’s first order of business then was selling trailer balls and mounts.

Two years later, Curt Manufacturing had designed and produced its first custom-fit receiver hitch. A 75,000-square-foot headquarters was built in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to support the company’s growth. By 2002, Curt was making fifth wheel hitches, bike racks and cargo carriers in addition to their previously offered products.

Following Curt’s efforts to move sales and marketing online, the company started making electrical products, like converters and T-connectors, in 2008. The Curt Group family of brands formed in 2017 with Aries, Luverne, Retrac and UWS. Lippert bought the Curt Group family two years later.
