EXCLUSIVE: Dealers Honored at Jayco Homecoming Awards

Roger and Sue Sicard of Sicard RV accept the award as Jayco's top volume towable dealer. The Ontario dealership also won top motorized dealer and top overall volume Jayco dealer.

Sicard RV in Ontario was the first dealer recognized at the 2025 Jayco Dealers Homecoming Awards Festivities Tuesday evening at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. It was a sign of things to come.

After leading the list of six dealers honored for 20 years as a Jayco dealer, Sicard RV went on to take the top spot in single-location towable and motorized sales. Sicard RV was named the largest volume, single-location Jayco dealer.

General Sales Manager Roger Sicard said a couple of months ago, those results would have surprised him.

“When we were looking at the numbers, we thought it was not that great of a year,” Sicard said. “When I came here and I looked at the numbers, and I looked at the motorhomes, and I looked at the trailers, and they were saying, it was a down market, but Jayco said, ‘You guys were up in trailers at 38% and motorhomes at 20%.’ I thought ‘Huh, I guess we did do a good job after all.’”

Sicard RV is located halfway between the Canadian side of Niagara Falls and Hamilton, Ontario. Despite the remote location, the dealership regularly finishes in the top 10 in Jayco’s volume sales awards.

The dealership stocks between 600 and 700 RVs continuously, Sicard said.

“When we sell an RV, we replace the unit,” he said. “We do not ever let our inventory go down. When customers come to our lot, we always have something for them to buy. We sell it, we replace it. We sell it, we replace it. That is basically how we have done it.”

Sicard RV’s original location was a street corner in Hamilton. Omar Sicard, Roger Sicard’s dad, bought a couple of trailers at a time in Montreal and stuck them on the street corner in Hamilton. Marjorie Sicard, Roger Sicard’s mom, sold them. On a decidedly smaller scale, the couple practiced the same sales philosophy that guides the dealership to this day.

The couple bought the land for today’s Sicard RV in the early 1960s and expanded from there. All five of the couple’s children have worked in the dealership.

“My parents were exceptional, because the simple fact is, they were able to keep this whole family together all the way through,” Roger Sicard said. “Five siblings working together, it does not always work. It worked at our place, and it still works today.”

Founder’s Award

With the final award of the night, Jayco recognized Burton Campers as the 2025 Founder’s Award winner.

Lisa Burton, her daughter, Laurie Gardner, son-in-law Jody Gardner, and granddaughter, Riley, accept the Founder’s Award from Jayco leaders at Tuesday night’s awards banquet.

Established in 2000, the Founder’s Award recognizes a dealership whose ownership and management consistently reflect the dedication and outstanding sales and customer support, and who over an extended period of time, has demonstrated a loyalty and commitment to Jayco, whose professional operations have brought credit to Jayco and the RV industry, and which embodies the spirit of the founders of Jayco.

Clayton Burton, who passed away in 2021, started Burton Campers in 1975.

Jayco Vice President of Marketing Trey Miller said, “Clayton had an entrepreneurial spirit that was never satisfied. He was the type to try to sell anything from lawn mowers to trampolines, before finally settling down in the camping industry. For anyone who knew Clayton, he did not let money stop him. He was a huge fan of trading with people for just about anything.”

Lisa Burton, Clayton’s wife, said the dealership became a Jayco-exclusive dealer approximately 15 years ago. She did not realize Burton Campers would be receiving the award until an old family photo appeared on the screen during the awards ceremony.

“First of all, it is totally unbelievable,” she said. “To me, this is the most amazing award that we could have ever been given: to be the dealership that actually represents what Jayco represents.”

Burton Campers is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The company began in Jasper, Alabama, before expanding to a second location in Calera, Alabama. The Jasper store closed in 2011, but the dealership opened a new location in Jasper just this year.

The Burtons’ daughter, Laurie Gardner, and her husband, Jody, now serve as chief financial officer and general manager at Burton Campers.

“This has just been a great partnership between Burton Campers and Jayco,” Lisa Burton said. “In my mind, it is the best brand.”
