Floyd’s RV’s announced plans to break ground on a new facility that will create an estimated 100 new jobs in northeast Oklahoma.

The $10 million investment will offer positions in Glenpool, Oklahoma, such as service technician, lot importer, facility maintenance, parts and accessories, sales and more. The move opens up avenues, owner Robert Floyd said, including an additional 25 job openings planned at the existing building.

“What I’d love for the people of Glenpool to know is we are committed to making the economy stronger,” Floyd stated.

Founded in 1969 by his father, Floyd said the dealership’s new 40-acre location was selected for closer proximity to the company’s major customer base in Tulsa, a two-hour drive from the business’ current space in Norman.

The landmark-style dealership will feature waterfalls and a log cabin design, Floyd said, with space for 200 RV storage bays and 20 service bays. The dealership’s lot will offer 600 to 700 units, bolstering the Norman facility’s existing 500-unit inventory.

“Our goal is not to be a metal building,” Floyd said. “Our facility will have a Cabela’s, Bass Pro-type of feel.”

The 53-year-old business places importance on contributing to community, Floyd said. As the company’s sole investors, Floyd and his wife have donated $250,000 to charities such as the area’s Children’s Hospital, The Junior League, local athletic programs and adopt-a-family organizations.

“Glenpool is focused on creating opportunity, and that is exactly what Floyd’s RV is bringing to Glenpool – opportunities for new quality jobs and new sales tax growth, all in an inviting destination in the southern part of Glenpool,” City Manager David Tillotson stated. “We welcome a new community partner in Floyd’s RV and look forward to their long-term success in Glenpool.”

Floyd said the move is a 12- to 18-month project, with expectations to break ground Jan. 9. Floyd’s RV would host a soft opening with a temporary building around springtime.

“My dad was in here every day of his life, and I learned that if I continue to try to manage this business with my control over it all, it will only grow to my potential,” Floyd said. “I have a great staff. I hired some really good people to go beyond.”
