Genesis Products’ Cody Harman has filled a handful of roles. He added a new one last week when he became the latest company member to be recognized as a Wood Industry 40 Under 40 honoree, as determined by the Woodworking Network.
Genesis supplies laminated panels, wood components and custom molded solutions to numerous industries. The RV industry consumes most of Harman’s time as a product director for lamination, wrapping and countertops.
Genesis President and CEO Jon Wenger is a former recipient of the annual award. This year’s winners of the 10th annual award were recognized during the Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers Fair in Las Vegas.
Harman said, “It is a nice little event they put on every year. The shows are always insightful. It is good to go out there to see what is going on in the manufacturing world and to meet with some of our suppliers and possibly new suppliers.”
Harman said he and Wenger visited Indonesia and China last fall to further develop their wood supply chain knowledge and expertise.
“There is a lot that goes into the wood side of things,” Harmon said. “Understanding the substrate, the legalities, the logging, which species make sense, the density and a lot of fun stuff like that.”
For Harman, the award recognizes the effort he put into learning the industry in hia 12 years at Genesis Products.
“I think I have done pretty well for myself at the company,” Harman said. “I do not perceive myself as an award winner, but it is nice to know my colleagues spoke highly of me and that the selection committee decided I was a worthy recipient.”
Harman’s nominators pointed to his leadership skills as a key attribute.
One nomination letter said, “Our RV Lamination and Profile Wrapping plants are our busiest, and Cody’s team of 13-15 reports consistently perform for our customers under his levelheaded leadership.”
