Adventure van manufacturer Off Highway Van released new features and customizable options for its Type B models.
The new features include hideaway sliding toilets, solid-surface countertops, hydronic heated flooring, JL audio packages, skylights and more.
CEO Aaron Pfadt started Salt Lake City-based Off Highway Van in 2016. Pfadt noticed there was a gap in the Type B market for customizable and functional off-grid vans.
Off Highway Van Marketing Performance Manager Connor Thill said the company set itself apart from competitors by providing fully customizable options.
“We let consumers customize every interior option,” Thill said. “You have multiple wood choices, hundreds of flooring options, thousands of powder coat options. You pick your graphics colors, your interior colors, your ceilings and walls, pretty much everything.”
The new 2025 features reflect Off Highway Van’s focus on saving space and adding comfort. The hideaway sliding toilet enables consumers to optimize storage areas. The new solid-surface countertops and skylights provide more custom van build options. Thill said the hydronic heated flooring and JL audio sound packages increase interior comfort and livability.
“Our approach to van conversions is truly unique—something industry insiders simply cannot replicate,” Pfadt said. “There will always be a demand for beautiful, high-quality and durable products, and that is exactly what we strive to deliver with every van we build.”
The company operates on a direct-to-consumer model. Off Highway Van has a supplier company called Dark Star Off-Road that makes suspension parts, lift kits and other accessories for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans. Manufacturers can order Dark Star Off-Road products to use on their own van builds.

Thill said Dark Star Off-Road enables suspension parts to stay in-house to ensure consumers get the best custom-tuned kits to match their van’s weight.
“Ours is custom-tuned specifically to the van’s weight, even coming down to if there is a water tank on one side,” Thill said. “We will give you extra preload on that side, so your suspension stays at 100% travel capability.”
