Statistical Surveys Inc.’s (SSI) full-year 2025 data revealed a banner year for Texas RV dealers in an essentially flat retail market.
SSI reported that all RV retail registrations, including new and used, fell 1% in 2025 from 2024 levels.
Texas led the nation in total new RV registrations (33,766) and total used RV registrations (57,400). Texas was also third in the nation in new RV registration growth (up 4.7% from 2024) and in used RV registration growth (up 3%).
Texas RV Association Executive Director Phil Elam said much of the state’s success was driven by multi-store dealer chains in major metropolitan areas. He said companies such as Camping World, Blue Compass RV, Fun Town RV and Ron Hoover RV & Marine were flush with inventory and registered growth in 2025.
He said independent, single-store dealerships have been challenged to compete with larger box stores in metropolitan areas.
“The industry got started with mom-and-pops,” he said, “but I have been here 13 years, and there has been a dynamic membership change over that time.”
Reinforcing the SSI data is data gathered by TRVA and its third-party vendor, Just-Texas. TRVA publishes monthly reports to its membership of retail registrations to Texas residents. In 2025, the companies reported 54,344 RV registrations to Texas residents, up over 7% from 2024 and the state’s highest mark since 2022.
One trend Elam identified was dealerships using their leverage on price and ancillary products to buy down industry rates. Although the Federal Reserve cut interest rates three times in 2025, Elam said the effect on RV financing takes time to materialize.
Elam said the association hosted consumer trade shows in Houston and San Antonio to start 2026. Although attendance was down slightly at each, he said consumers at the events were buying, had good credit and high verifiable incomes.
“The dealers were very pleased,” he said. “They are all about people who want to buy an RV. They want more people, but they need a qualified audience and time to work with them.”
According to SSI data, Fun Town RV in Cleborne was the leading Texas dealership in overall new retail registrations in 2025. Ron Hoover RV & Marine was next, followed by Camping World’s Katy location. The three dealerships were the top three Texas dealers in new towable retail registrations as well.
In new motorized retail registrations, DeMontrond RV in Springs was the top Texas dealer. Vogt RV Centers in Fort Worth was next, followed by Holiday World’s Katy store.
Category Trends
SSI reported that travel trailer new registrations grew 0.9% in 2025 from 2024 levels. Travel trailers priced at $25,000 or less rose 2% in new registrations from 2024, across nearly all income brackets and age groups. Travel trailer buyers ages 18-24 saw registrations decline 2% year-over-year. SSI said the results were surprising, as younger generations typically comprise large shares of travel trailer buyers.
New Type C motorhome registrations also increased, up 3.3% year-over-year. New truck camper registrations rose 9.2% year-over-year.
Type A motorhome new registrations fell 15.9% from 2024 levels, while Type B registrations were down 11.2%. Fifth wheel new registrations were “modestly” down year-over-year.
“Taken together, registration patterns suggest buyers are gravitating slightly toward more cost-conscious segments within the new RV category,” SSI said, “as higher-priced units represent a marginally smaller portion of total new registrations. At the same time, higher-end buyers remain active in the market, with a modest uptick in used registrations indicating some premium consumers may be reallocating spend toward pre-owned inventory.”
Among used RV registrations, RVs priced at $25,000 or less fell by over 1% from the previous year. RVs priced from $25,001-$50,000 grew over 0.5%, while RVs priced from $50,000-$250,000 grew approximately 0.25% from the previous year.
SSI said the price breakdown indicated a relative shift in the used purchasing mix.
State Comparisons
Texas was joined by California, Florida, Michigan and Washington as the top five states for new RV registrations in 2025.
Among used RV registrations, Texas was followed by Florida, Arizona, Michigan and Ohio.
SSI said the results underscored Sun Belt states’ continued dominance alongside established Midwest RV hubs.
Kentucky was the fastest-growing state for 2025 RV registrations.
Kentucky led the nation in new RV registration growth at 7.6%, followed by Louisiana (6.9%), Texas, Pennsylvania (4.3%) and Washington (4.3%).
Among used RV registration growth, Kentucky topped the country with 11.5% growth from 2024. The state was followed by Idaho (5.4%), Texas, Utah (2.5%) and Wyoming (2.4%).
