San Antonio RVs owner Matt McConnell embraced the season of giving this year, donating a travel trailer to a local food bank.

The Forest River Cherokee Wolf Den 16EV is valued at $30,000 and will be raffled off to raise funds for the food bank.

“It is getting to that special time of year,” McConnell said. “This is when we watch Scrooge and The Grinch and all the other stuff…this is when we all want to be nice and be good and, if we’ve got blessings, make our holidays good for everybody else, too.”

The San Antonio Food Bank is the RV recipient. McConnell praised the organization and detailed its efforts during crises such as the flooding of Camp Mystic last July 4.

“They were up there right away,” McConnell said, “with a bunch of trucks, feeding all the first responders.”

Through different sponsorships and funding programs, McConnell said the San Antonio Food Bank provides seven meals for every dollar raised.

Raffle tickets cost $100. Each ticket purchase potentially provides 700 meals.

“Their entire organization is just top-notch,” McConnell said. “The guy that runs that deal, a guy named Eric Cooper, is a super, super guy.”

McConnell said this is not the first time San Antonio RVs has donated an RV to the food bank.

“We did it before a couple of years ago during Covid,” McConnell said. “[We were] selling a bunch of RVs, making money, and thought, well, let’s do something nice for somebody.”

McConnell encouraged everyone who can to research their local food banks, find a reputable organization and help out this holiday season.

“Food banks are a good deal, and they will help anybody,” McConnell said. “No matter where you are, do some research, find a local food bank and reach out.”

The winning raffle ticket will be drawn Monday.
