McCord’s Vancouver RV owners started planning for the future nearly four years ago because of the business’ continued growth. The future arrived earlier this year when the dealership moved into a new location at 17733 NE 120th Ave. in Battleground, Washington.
For more than 30 years, the dealership shared a lot with Vancouver Toyota. General Manager Tom Lewis said the new location is less than 10 miles away.
“We both needed more space,” Lewis said. “The new building is something the owners (the McCord family) have wanted to do for a long time. They put a plan together, bought the property and designed the building, and here we are. It is hard to believe we are finally here.”
McCord’s went from a 2.5-acre lot to approximately 4 acres at the new site. The location offers a sales area with indoor display space, a larger parts department and eight drive-through service bays.
“Our service business has probably doubled since we have been here,” Lewis said. “The location is a lot easier to get in and out of. We are right off Highway 503, which is a heavily traveled highway. People cannot miss us because the building is enormous and easy to spot from the highway.”
Lewis said the parts department is probably five times larger than the previous location.”
The additional space enabled the dealership to add tractors, utility trailers and horse trailers.
“We are located right next to the Clark County Saddle Club,” Lewis said, “so we decided it would be a good move to offer some horse trailers.”
Lewis has been with the company for more than 20 years.
“It has been a long journey, but we are here now,” Lewis said. “Business has been pretty good, and we are looking forward to next year. If we can get interest rates under control, I think we are all going to have a better year next year.”
