Dennis and Laura Decker had a successful RV industry history, so when they decided to sell their Airstream of Utah and Airstream of Wyoming stores, they sought a specific buyer who could continue that tradition.
Laura Decker said, “Finding the perfect buyer was of paramount importance.”
In mid-May, the Deckers sold the stores to Colorado-based Windish RV.
“The Windish RV team met all the criteria we were looking for to take over the businesses and relationships we worked so hard to develop,” Laura Decker said. “Airstream of Utah and Airstream of Wyoming continue to be family-owned and cared for by the Windish family. This could not make us happier, as we feel the RV lifestyle is all about bringing families together.”
Windish RV Center, a family-owned business established in 1965, operates three multi-brand dealerships in Colorado and an Airstream-exclusive dealership in Denver.
The Decker family got its start in the RV industry when by opening a dealership in Cody, Wyoming, years ago. The Deckers built the store into the state’s second-largest RV dealership, but later sold out when Dennis Decker joined a startup technology company in Utah.
As the couple transitioned to empty nesters, Dennis Decker was interested in acquiring an Airstream trailer for personal use. Discovering that Utah lacked an Airstream dealership, he contacted Airstream’s corporate office in Jackson Center, Ohio.
After their discussions, Dennis and Laura Decker were awarded the license to become Airstream’s exclusive Utah dealer. They assembled a team that included their three sons, two daughters-in-law, a family friend and Airstream-certified technicians to launch Airstream of Utah in 2017.
In September 2022, the Deckers opened Airstream of Wyoming. Adjacent to Airstream of Wyoming, the couple owns Grand Buffalo RV Resort, which Dennis Decker said they will continue to own and operate.
“Each person that came to our two dealerships, Airstream of Utah and Airstream of Wyoming, entered as a guest and left as family,” Dennis Decker said. “We are most proud of the relationships and friendships we made along this incredible journey.”
