Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) has consolidated Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) into a new division called Daimler Truck Specialty Vehicles (DTSV).
The DTSV division will include FCCC and Thomas Built Buses.
The company said the move creates greater synergies, enhances customer service, improves operational efficiency and accelerates innovation.
The company said DTSV will build on FCCC’s and Thomas Built Buses’ heritage and expertise. DTSV will combine FCCC and Thomas Built Buses’ strengths with Daimler Truck North America’s scale, resources and technology.
President and CEO T.J. Reed will lead DTSV. The leadership team includes Chief Financial Officer Caleb Judge, Head of Engineering Kendra Eads and Head of Quality and Customer Experience Nick Rini.
DTNA Senior Vice President of Operations and Head of Specialty Vehicles Jeff Allen said, “We are not only simplifying how we operate. We are strengthening our ability to deliver for our customers. This move reflects our long-term commitment to building a more connected, responsive and resilient organization—one that empowers our people and delivers on the expectations of those who rely on our vehicles every day.”
The division aligns RVs, school buses and walk-in vans. FCCC supplies chassis for Thomas Built Buses and other specialty vehicles.
“By bringing together the strengths of Thomas Built Buses and Freightliner Custom Chassis, Daimler Truck Specialty Vehicles is now positioned to move faster, serve customers even better and operate with greater focus,” Reed said. “With a strong manufacturing footprint in the Carolinas and a unified team, we are ready to meet the needs of our dealers and customers with renewed agility, confidence and purpose.”
FCCC employs over 1,000 workers in Gaffney, South Carolina. Thomas Built Buses employs approximately 1,900 people in High Point, North Carolina.
