South Carolina officials say Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp.’s (FCCC) new $13.9 million expansion project is a significant deal for Cherokee County, South Carolina. The investment is expected to create 193 new jobs.

“The investment will have a major impact on both the local economy and throughout the state,” South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt says.

FCCC, a division of Daimler Trucks North American, manufactures chassis for the luxury RV, walk-in van, commercial bus and school bus markets. The company already employs more than 1,000 people at its Gaffney, South Carolina, headquarters.

“Freightliner is a well-established and valued corporate citizen in Cherokee County,” Cherokee County Council Chairman Tim Spencer says. “We are thankful for the trust they have placed in Cherokee County by, once again, expanding their operations.”

FCCC anticipates the expansion project to be completed in early 2022.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster says, “This $13.9 million investment and 193 new jobs will make a huge difference in Cherokee County and we look forward to watching FCCC continue to grow and thrive for years to come.”
