The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued the following recalls:

9299-5000 QUEBEC INC.

Cooktop Gas Valves May Fracture Causing Gas Leak

A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the fire risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 61

9299-5000 Québec Inc. is recalling certain 2020-2023 Helio 02 travel trailers, equipped with certain SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture and cause a gas leak.

The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 27, 2023. Owners may contact 9299-5000 Quebec customer service at 1-877 583-2206. 9299-5000 Quebec’s number for this recall is 2023-001.

FOREST RIVER, INC.

Improperly Wired Breakaway Switch

A breakaway switch that does not have power will not activate the trailer brakes, increasing the crash risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 12

Forest River is recalling certain 2023 Puma Pause Travel trailers. The breakaway switch may be incorrectly wired and cause the battery to not charge, resulting in no power to the breakaway switch.

Dealers will rewire the breakaway switch, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 3, 2023. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-327-2681. Forest River’s number for this recall is 426-1613.

 

Brake Wire Routed Incorrectly

A pinched brake wire may cause the brakes to fail, increasing crash risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 19

Forest River is recalling certain 2023 Puma Pause travel trailers. The brake wire was routed incorrectly through the suspension, which may result in a pinched wire.

Dealers will inspect the wire, and rewire or reroute as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 3, 2023. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-327-2681. Forest River’s number for this recall is 426-1615.

JAYCO, INC.

Axle U-bolts May Not Be Tightened Properly

An axle that moves out of position can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the crash risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 37

Jayco is recalling certain 2023 Northpoint FW travel trailers. The axle U-bolts may not be tightened properly, which can cause the axle to move out of position.

Dealers will inspect and tighten the U-bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 31, 2023. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco’s number for this recall is 9901585.

SHADOW TRAILER, LLC

Cooktop Gas Valves May Fracture Causing Gas Leak

A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the fire risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 270

Shadow Trailer, LLC is recalling certain 2016-2023 Living Quarter trailers, equipped with certain SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture and cause a gas leak.

Service centers will order repair kits directly from the equipment supplier, Suburban Manufacturing, and install the kits, free of charge. The remedy for previously sold vehicles is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification.
