Lippert Components, Inc. said it is turning a large-scale volunteer effort into something the community can see and feel in real time during its annual Volunteer Week.
The company’s Pack Out program was once a food and personal hygiene packing initiative for Lippert employees. It has grown and evolved into a full-cycle community activation — moving from warehouse floors to local neighborhoods in a matter of days.
That shift, the company said, from packing to immediate, local distribution, is what makes Pack Out 2.0 different.
“Over three nights, Lippert team members will pack more than 123,000 food and personal hygiene items into 5,000 boxes,” a company spokesperson said. “But the bigger story is what happens next.”
Lippert Senior Lead of Corporate and Community Impact Brandie Edsall said from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 23, boxes will be distributed directly to local families through four drive-through sites in Elkhart, Goshen, Nappanee, and Middlebury, Indiana.
“Distributing the food boxes is where the hard work truly comes to life, and the volunteer experience comes full circle,” Edsall said. “What begins with the hands and hearts of Lippert team members packing essential items reaches its greatest impact through powerful, face-to-face moments with the families who need them most.”
Lippert Social Impact Strategist Michilah Grimes said distribution is open to anyone who needs one, no questions asked.
“This isn’t just volunteering behind the scenes,” Grimes said. “It’s a chance to actually watch impact happen, from the moment something is packed to the moment it reaches someone who needs it.”
The program is conducted in partnership Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
