A new trend is emerging on a state level, according to Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. The organization said it has seen many states increase economic investments in outdoor recreation.
ORR said a few of the states noted for their economic contributions to the outdoor recreation economy include Maine, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
A report by the Portland Press Herald quotes state leaders saying Maine’s outdoor recreation industry is ripe for growth.
Outdoor recreation contributed $3.4 billion to Maine’s economy in 2023.
The report said Maine plans to grow the state’s outdoor recreation economy by 10% in 10 years.
In Wisconsin, the Office of Outdoor Recreation highlighted more than $49 million in economic impact from five of the state’s outdoor recreation destinations.
In early January, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced a nearly $82 million investment in new state funding to support more than 295 recreation and conservation projects across the state.
As states continue to invest in outdoor recreation, RV manufacturers, dealers and suppliers should be ready to meet a growing consumer need.
