Newmar presented its Dealer Excellence Awards at its gala dinner event Thursday night at the manufacturer’s annual dealer meeting.
The event, held at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, also served as a send-off to Vice President of Sales John Sammut. Sammut is retiring after the dealer meeting after serving 19 years with Newmar.
Tributes to Sammut began with the opening presentations Wednesday but culminated Thursday night in a tribute from Campers Inn owner and CEO Jeff Hirsch. Hirsch told attendees about scaling the top of the Waynapicchu mountain with Sammut in Machu Picchu. As he recounted the tale and the impact the event had on his life, he presented Sammut with a glass figure inscribed: “Thank you for taking us to the top of the mountain. Your dealer family.”
Sammut, who said he hoped to make it through the meeting without being visibly moved, brushed away moisture from his eyes and once again thanked all in attendance.
Newmar presented 10 dealers with Sales Excellence Awards at the ceremony, as well as 22 dealers with Service Excellence Awards.
National Indoor RV Centers in Lewisville, Texas, was awarded the Not Just a Number award.
