Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) applauded the formation of the newly established bipartisan Public Lands Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.
U.S. Representatives Gabe Vasquez (D-N.M.-02) and Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.-01) and a bipartisan group of lawmakers announced the caucus’ launch May 7 at a press conference in front of the U.S. Capitol. The mission of the caucus is to protect public lands, expand access and promote economic and recreational opportunities.
ORR Senior Vice President Whitney Potter Schwartz said the caucus’ creation is a significant step forward in protecting and expanding access to public lands and waters.
“Keeping public lands public is a business imperative,” Schwartz said. “There could not be a more important time to stand up for America’s best return on investment and keep public land selloff out of reconciliation.”
ORR will work closely with the Public Land Caucus to elevate outdoor recreation and advance policies that support rural economic development, improve access, fund infrastructure and safeguard America’s natural heritage. ORR said it is deeply committed to ensuring public land remains public and accessible to all.
As public lands are the backbone of the RVing lifestyle, RVDA President Phil Ingrassia said public lands are essential to the emotional and economic well-being of the nation.
Ingrassia said, “RVDA applauds the creation of the Public Lands Caucus and its commitment to enhancing access and expanding the infrastructure that supports millions of Americans who enjoy these shared spaces.”
