The Falcon 3HD Tow Bar from Roadmaster Inc. is an evolution of two of the company’s popular tow bars, the supplier said.
The 45-pound powerhouse is designed to tow up to 10,000 pounds.
Roadmaster Technical Writer Robert Silk said the design provides customers the best attributes from other popular models.
“The goal was to fill a niche for a lightweight, high-capacity tow bar that can handle 10,000 pounds, but not be so heavy and/or complex,” he said. “The goal was to combine the lightweight usability of the Falcon AT with the strength and durability of the BlackHawk into a single, unified product as a direct replacement for both.”
Silk said developing the Falcon 3HD required structural redesigns. Then, the tow bar was put through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) testing and field trials to ensure it met company standards for safety, reliability and ease of use.
Silk said customers are increasingly towing heavier vehicles that often push tow bars with capacities between 6,000 and 8,000 pounds. Silk said the new tow bar is a necessity in the Roadmaster lineup.
“The Falcon 3HD answers these requests directly by offering a true 10,000-pound capacity in a manageable format,” Silk said. “It responds to a growing trend in both overlanding and full-size vehicle towing.”
Key features include thick-wall steel construction, non-binding Freedom Latch technology and self-aligning, stainless-steel arms that telescope, center and lock automatically.
“Freedom Latch is our patented, non-binding disconnect system.” Silk said. “It uses a cam mechanism with a 400-to-1 mechanical advantage to make releasing the tow bar effortless, even when parked on uneven terrain or at awkward angles.”
Integrated channel guides keep safety cables and power cords organized. A patented locking storage latch eliminates needing pins or clips. A corrosion-resistant powder-coated finish increases the tow bar’s durability.
The Falcon 3HD Tow Bar is available through Roadmaster’s nationwide distributor network and retail partners. The tow bar is available as part No. 622 (Roadmaster baseplates) and part No. 627 (Blue Ox baseplates).
