RVIA’s latest snapshot of wholesale RV shipments found manufacturers keeping shipment totals far below 2022 levels even as manufacturing rose to its fastest pace since October 2022.

Results for RVIA’s March 2023 survey of manufacturers determined the industry shipped 31,869 wholesale RVs in March.

The total is a 50.8% decrease compared with the 64,778 wholesale RVs shipped in March 2022. To date, RV shipments are down 54.3% with 78,600 wholesale RVs.

“As camping season approaches,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said, “the RV industry continues to produce innovative products that will open the door for great outdoor experiences.”

The March shipment total is the most monthly wholesale RV shipments since 32,652 RVs were shipped in October 2022.

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month down 53.7% compared with March 2022 with 27,404 wholesale shipments.

Motorhomes finished the month down 20.2% compared with the same month last year with 4,465 wholesale shipments.

“As consumers head to RV dealerships across the country this spring and summer, they will find many affordable options across all product types,” Kirby said. “That will help them begin a journey towards a lifetime of memorable RV and camping experiences with friends and family.”
