The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a Notice of Allowance for Dragonfly Energy’s patent application on its IntelLigence battery communication technology. Dragonfly Energy makes Battle Born Batteries.
The company said the patent is related to the use of a multiple battery system and related wireless devices that wirelessly share information with one another over a connected mesh network.
Through the technology’s connected information, key operating data may be shared, and error and/or warning codes may be propagated if certain conditions are detected. The technology operates even if one of the battery systems is powered down.
Dragonfly Energy CEO Dr. Denis Phares said the networked communication layer enhances system awareness and reliability.
“We believe this patent strengthens our Dragonfly IntelLigence platform and represents a major step forward in connected battery technology,” Phares said. “By giving our batteries the ability to communicate directly with one another via our Battle Born HUB product, we are enabling a more intelligent, adaptive and efficient energy ecosystem that can respond dynamically to user needs and environmental conditions.”
Dragonfly recently raised approximately $28.75 million through a public stock offering. The company says the funding will support working capital, new product development and domestic cell production.
