Service Department Foreman to Unveil Improved Efficiency Strategies

Veteran technician and shop foreman Ken Barnes will help direct service shops to improved efficiency during a workshop at the 2023 RVDA Convention/Expo in the fixed-operations track.

The Convention/Expo will take place Nov. 6-10, 2023, at Paris Las Vegas.

Barnes will lead a session, titled “Proven Strategies to Decrease RECT and Improve Technician Productivity,” from 2-3 p.m. Nov. 9. The workshop will cover the steps from start to finish on proven ways to decrease repair event cycle time (RECT) while improving the customer experience.

In addition, Barnes will review ways to improve technician productivity and their satisfaction.

During the workshop, attendees will learn:

  • Step-by-step processes that will streamline their RECT plus improve their customer and technician satisfaction
  • Techniques for increasing technician productivity and gross profits

Barnes is DealerPRO RV Training’s director of sales. He spent 25 years in fixed-operations departments, working for franchised auto dealers, first as a technician, then shop foreman. Ultimately, Barnes was the fixed operations director for a large dealer organization, overseeing 300 employees and grossing over $800,000 a month in fixed ops.
