Six candidates have filed paperwork with the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office, hopeful they will become the Indiana Second District congressional representative after Rep. Jackie Walorski’s death.

The candidates include former Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill Jr., tax professional Michael Hogberg, attorney Tiernan Kane, state Rep. Curtis Nisly, former State Rep. Christy Stutzman and Kem Krest Director of Growth Initiatives Rudolph Yakym, III.

Yakym, a former Walorski staffer, was endorsed in a public statement Aug. 15 by Walorski’s husband, Dean Swihart.

About 530 voters will caucus at Grissom Middle School Aug. 20 to pare down the candidates to serve the rest of Walorski’s term and replace her on the ballot for the next two-year term.
