Submission Deadline for ELD Exemption Info Extended

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA).

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA), in collaboration with RVDA of Canada and the RVIA, is asking motorhome and travel trailer companies to submit their information in support of our Electronic Logging Device (ELD) exemption extension request.

A CRVA spokesperson said the current exemption has been critical to the efficient delivery of RVs across Canada but is set to expire in October 2026. The exemption will now either be renewed or removed.

CRVA President Shane Devenish said the association is collecting data through a confidential information form designed for Transport Canada to assess the safety, compliance and operational effectiveness of the exemption.

“This exemption has been essential to ensuring RVs can be delivered safely and efficiently across Canada,” Devenish said. “We want to make sure that every company currently operating under the exemption has an opportunity to be included in this submission.”

The previous deadline of Feb. 26 has been extended to give companies more time to submit their information.

“CRVA has been working directly with Transport Canada and industry partners to compile a comprehensive, data-driven request,” a CRVA spokesperson said. “While some companies have already been identified through Transport Canada records, others may not be captured.”

CRVA is encouraging any company currently using — or that has previously used — the ELD exemption to submit information. Companies that are no longer operating under the exemption or do not wish to be included are not required to respond.

Information being collected includes company details and operating regions, safety and collision reporting and operational benefits and challenges under the exemption.

CRVA said all responses will remain confidential and will be aggregated into a single industry submission to Transport Canada.

The new deadline for submission is March 31.
