SylvanSport Goes All-in on Personal Protective Equipment

Producing protective face shields at SylvanSport

SylvanSport has begun designing and producing innovative safety products in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Brevard, North Carolina-based RV manufacturer has also drawn on its supplier network to obtain enormous quantities of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical professionals.

The company developed and is producing a medical-grade face shield and has switched its manufacturing plant to producing them, as well as other products designed to keep people safe from the coronavirus.

SylvanSport staff also created a foot-operated door opener, which eliminates the need to touch doors with hands. Originally designed for use at the company’s plant, SylvanSport now sells the door openers on its website. In response to demand from local businesses, the company also now manufactures and sells countertop sneeze barriers to prevent transmission of the coronavirus during retail transactions.

Through its contacts with suppliers in China, SylvanSport has been able to obtain hundreds of thousands of N95 masks and thousands of protective Tyvek suits. The company offers them for sale online, prioritizing orders for health-care workers and first responders. SylvanSport continues to seek N95 masks and other PPE through its supply chains in Slovenia, Vietnam, China and Germany.

SylvanSport continues to produce its GO campers and has made its in-house fleet available as temporary shelters, rapid-deployable mobile shelters, or other emergency response needs.
