Tariffs Expanded to Include RV-Related Products

A significant expansion of Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs added over 400 Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes to the previous list of products subject to expanded tariffs.

An ad valorem tariff of 50% will apply to the metal content of affected products. According to RVIA, among the new products on the tariff list are trailers and semi-trailers for camping, slide-in campers and truck bed camper shells.

Other products impacted include brake hoses of plastics with fittings, cable traction devices, mufflers and exhaust pipes for motorhomes, clutches for other motor vehicles, parts of steering systems (other than steering wheels, columns, boxes, parts thereof); and bumper stampings of steel.

RVIA said this list is not exhaustive.

Notable exclusions include power train parts, drive shafts, universal joints for vehicles, including motorhomes; and drive axles for motorhomes.

The notice said 60 codes are subject to ongoing investigations.

The full list of included HTS codes is available in the Federal Register notice. The Commerce Department is expected to open another inclusion process in September.
