A shipment traveled across the nation. The package’s journey began in Garden Grove, California, and ended at the Thor U.S. Innovation Lab in Elkhart, Indiana.

Harbinger Motor delivered its first purpose-built medium-duty electric vehicle chassis to Thor Industries.

Harbinger Motors CEO John Harris said, “Harbinger’s delivery of our first electric chassis to Thor paves the way for a new standard in the future of recreational vehicles.”

Thor was the first customer to receive the electric product. The manufacturer made multiple investments in Harbinger’s chassis fundraising, including its latest effort in September.

Harris said Harbinger believes in furthering RV electrification.

“Our strategy is focused on empowering companies to transform their fleets with sustainable options,” Harris said, “tapping into a significant market opportunity that drives towards a greener, more innovative future in transportation.”

Chassis production began in the new Garden Grove facility in the 2023 fourth quarter. Thor Industries plans to use the chassis to make an electric Type A motorhome.A picture of the Harbinger electric chassis.

Thor Senior Vice President of Global Innovation McKay Featherstone said, “Thor Industries is at the forefront of transforming recreational travel, exploring electrification with partners like Harbinger to be the first to introduce innovative, sustainable RV technologies.”
