RVIA reported wholesale RV shipments started 2023 slowly but in line with the previous two months.

The report contrasted earlier projections of much slower shipment production in January 2023.

RVIA’s survey of manufacturers determined total wholesale RV shipments in January were 20,405. The figure is down 61.8% from January’s 2022 record total of 53,351.

However, January’s wholesale shipment total rose slightly from the 19,907 wholesale RV shipments in January and was down just 17% from November’s 24,445 wholesale RV shipments.

“With record-high RV production through the first half of 2022, the year-over-year decrease we are seeing in this report was expected,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said. “We are encouraged by the positive news and high attendance at RV shows across the country and the strong reservation numbers reported by campgrounds.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month down 66.8% against January 2022 with 16,117 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month down 10.1% compared with January 2022 with 4,288 units.

Park Model RVs finished January up 64.8% compared with the same month last year, with 547 wholesale shipments.
